kWh Analytics has hired a former SolarCity director as its patented solar revenue put hits a milestone, having been deployed on projects totaling $500 million.

The ex-SolarCity staffer, John P. Kintz, Jr., joined kWh Analytics' San Francisco team as senior director of business development in January.

He had most recently been senior director, structured finance, at ET Capital for two years, prior to which he had a shorter spell with SolarCity as director, project development and acquisition.

Kintz has also held the positions of project finance director at SunEnergy1 and managing director at SOLON Corp.

His longest power finance role, however, was at SunPower Corp., between 2007 and 2012, when he served as director, structured finance and business development.

He began his finance career with stints at Bank of America Leasing and Bridgeway Capital.

AES Corp. recently used kWh Analytics’ insurance product to reduce coverage ratios when it refinanced debt on a 27 MW distributed solar portfolio at the end of last year (PFR, 1/2).
