BNP Paribas added a vice president to its North America power, infrastructure and project finance team last month.
Olivier Catala joined the team from another French bank, Crédit Agricole, on Jan. 22.
He was with Créd Ag for about seven-and-a-half years, spending time in its New York and Paris offices, and had been a v.p. in the energy and infrastructure group in New York for just over a year before he left.
At BNP, he reports to Tim Chin, whose team is understood to be preparing to make a more senior hire following the shift of managing director Ravina Advani to a new role in the firm’s coverage division at the end of last year (PFR, 12/11).
Like Créd Ag, BNP is well-known for its financial advisory and lending services in relation to quasi-merchant gas-fired projects in PJM Interconnection but also pursues renewable energy deals.
