McDermott Will & Emery has hired a team of former senior Akin Gump lawyers as partners with a focus on renewable energy project finance and private equity.

Edward Zaelke and Carl Fleming join McDermott from Akin Gump's project finance group, while Lloyd MacNeil joins from Edison Energy but is also a former Akin Gump partner.

With over 30 years’ experience in renewable energy finance and development, Zaelke will head up McDermott's global energy project finance group and will be based in Los Angeles.

He has served on the board of the American Wind Energy Association for the last 12 years and is a founding board member of the Wind Solar Alliance.

Fleming, who was counsel at Akin Gump, will continue to be based in Washington, D.C., while MacNeil, who was general counsel at Edison Energy, is staying in L.A.
