Arizona Public Service Company plans to issue two requests for proposals by Sept. 15 to help expand its renewable energy portfolio with solar and wind projects.

Under the solar RFP, the company will be looking for build-transfer deals for up to 150 MW of capacity to be in service by 2021, while the wind RFP will be for resources totaling 250 MW to be online “as soon as possible” but no later than 2022, according to an announcement.

Solar projects should be designed in such a way as to allow energy storage to be added later, says APS.

The company is planning to assign a different third-party independent monitor to each process and expects to reveal further details in the coming weeks.
