There were signs even before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic that the dynamic of the market for renewable energy assets had shifted in favor of buyers, and the recent flurry of sale processes kicking off despite travel restrictions and lockdowns will have done nothing to tip the scales in the other direction.

“Is it a buyer’s market again?” wondered an official at a developer at the end of April, inundated with project marketing. “Are you following the craze?” High quality assets will, of course, still draw competitive bids, say deal watchers. But projects that are less of a slam dunk could be easy pickings for enterprising investors.
