Spearmint Energy acquires 900MW portfolio of BESS assets

Spearmint Energy has acquired Nomadic, a 900MW portfolio of battery energy storage solutions (BESS) assets in Texas.

Located in Cooke, Galveston and Brazoria counties, the Nomadic BESS portfolio will serve Texas’ ERCOT power market. The portfolio consists of three projects, each with a target capacity of 300 MW.

The acquisition expands Spearmint’s BESS portfolio, and over the next several months, the renewables company will complete Nomadic’s remaining development work.

The first project within the portfolio is expected to reach notice to proceed in early 2024 and begin commercial operation within 12-18 months.

Based in Miami, Spearmint is a next generation renewable energy company enabling the clean energy revolution through battery energy storage.

The Spearmint platform comprises of three strategies:

  • battery and solar project development

  • energy storage offtake

  • renewables power trading
