Atlas inks PPA with Albras for LatAm solar

Renewable developer Atlas Renewable Energy has signed a 21-year PPA with Brazilian aluminum producer Albras to supply solar power.

Under the terms of the agreement, Atlas will supply solar energy to Albras from 902MWp Vista Alegre PV project – located in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil.

The plant is expected to produce 2 TWh per year and offset around 154,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually.

Carlos Barrera, chief executice of Atlas Renewable Energy, said: "The closing of our second contract with Albras attests to our ability to provide a compelling, tailored energy solution to our customers. Furthermore, it offers predictability to the energy management of our customers looking to achieve their sustainability goals. The scale and term of this deal underscore Atlas’ ability to address the needs of large energy consumers with the reliability of execution while fostering best-in-class ESG programs in line with their values."

Atlas Renewable Energy manages over 4GW of contracted projects, of which 2.2GW are operational.

Meanwhile, in January (2023), Atlas Renewable Energy secured a $210 million loan from Brazil’s Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social for its 438MW Boa Sorte solar project.
