
EDF Renewables Brasil has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the development of green hydrogen with the state government of Rio Grande do Norte.
Under the agreement, the French energy company will work on the development, operation and maintenance of an offshore wind complex with up to 2GW of capacity that will support the production of green hydrogen. The project is set to be operational 2030.
EDF will cooperate with Brazilian renewable developer Internacional Energias Renováveis on the project.
The state of Rio Grande do Norte signed several MoU to support the development of green hydrogen in the state including with Enerfin, Neoenergia, Voltalia (PFR, 3/6).
Last September, EDF Brasil signed another such MoU with Prumo Logística, a transportation and energy conglomerate in Brazil, in the state of Rio de Janeiro (PFR, 9/14).
