David Giordano has been promoted to global head of renewables at asset manager BlackRock, replacing Jim Barry, who will remain global head of real assets.

Giordano has been with BlackRock since the creation of the renewables team in 2011. He joined from Community Energy, where he was cfo and chief operating officer. Prior to this he held positions at Babcock & Brown and FPL Group.

Rory O’Connor, meanwhile, has been appointed global chief investment officer for the renewables group and will continue as head of Europe while Martin Torres will take charge of the Americas.
