HOUSTON--A senior power trader has left Citi's commodities group after about six years with the firm.

The trader, Hugh Byrd, departed a little over a month ago, say deal watchers.

A managing director, he handled the Ercot West region out of this city.

The reasons for his departure and future plans could not immediately be learned.

Byrd joined Citi in 2013 as a director, gaining promotion to M.D. in 2017.

Before that, he traded in Ercot at Deutsche Bank Energy for six years.
