The Chilean National Commission of Energy is launching a request for proposals (RFP) for transmission projects in the country.
The commission is calling on interested parties to submit project proposals for transmission expansion works. Proposals can be submitted from February 21 until April 22.
Earlier this year, Chile’s National Electric Coordinator identified 23 transmission initiatives to be carried out to improve the grid across the country (PFR 1/26).
The projects would add 260km of new transmission lines, and include improvement works on several existing lines and substations. The initiatives consist of seven national projects totaling $175 million in investments, as well as 16 local projects representing an additional $104 million.
The investments in the grid will help accommodate the growing energy and power demand over the next 20 years, and will also enable a better integration of renewable sources into the country's energy matrix.
