French-based renewables producer Total Eren will construct its first project in Honduras, a 122MW wind farm.
Total Eren’s SPV San Marcos Wind Energy has signed a 25-year PPA with the Honduran national electricity company Empresa Nacional de Energía Eléctrica (ENEE).
Under the terms of the agreement, the SPV is responsible for:
construction of around 95km of 230kV transmission line starting from the Choluteca Department until the Francisco Morazán Department
construction of a new 230kV substation
reinforcement works to be carried out in two existing substations
The wind farm will produce roughly 500GWh a year, enough to serve some 460,000 people.
The project will be located in San Marcos de Colon, Choluteca Department, in the northwestern part of the country.
“We are delighted to have reached an agreement on this electricity sales contract in Honduras. It is a major step forward in the development of the San Marcos wind project, Total Eren’s first in the country”, said Fabienne Demol, executive VP and global head of business development at Total Eren.
