Rialma Administração e Participações is set to win an additional transmission lot in Brazil’s June auction after the original winner was disqualified.
Gênesis Consortium was initially awarded Lot 8 but was disqualified by Brazil’s National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) after failing to meet legal, technical, and financial qualification requirements according to the agency (PFR, 8/7).
Lot 8 comprises 38km of transmission lines in Pernambuco representing an investment of R$ 259.5 million ($53.5 million).
In the June auction, Grupo Rialma was also awarded Lot 2 which includes 1,614km of transmission lines across Bahia and Minas Gerais.
The Gênesis Consortium — made of The Best Car Transportes de Cargas Nacionais e Internacionais (92.52%) and Entec Empreendimentos (7.48%) — also won Lot 1 which was granted to runner-up bidder ISA CTEEP (PFR, 8/24).
Brazil is gearing up for the second transmission to be held this year. Scheduled for December 15, the auction includes 11 transmission projects totaling R$21.7 billion ($4.5 billion) in investments to be tendered in 3 lots (PFR, 8/2).
